Bike enthusiasts, get ready.

Yarra Ranges Council is pleased to provide an update on the progress of the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project, focusing on the positive steps we have taken since our last update.

Following the Environment Effects Statement (EES) process and the subsequent release of the Victorian Minister for Planning’s Assessment of the EES, there are several final approval processes that need to be completed prior to commencing trail construction. Council is fully committed to securing these approvals as quickly as possible to ensure the project can move forward.

While the approval process for the trails continues, we have completed works at Wesburn Park which will serve as the main trailhead for stage 1 of the project. This includes necessary upgrades to the carpark and toilets, fencing upgrades (to help manage shared use of the park), as well as the installation of visitor furniture, bike repaid stations, landscaping and tree protection works.

We are also making great progress with the Wesburn Park Pump Track with the track design currently being finalised. Combined with the upgrades to Wesburn Park, the Pump Track will be a fantastic space for the community to gather, develop and showcase their skills.

Construction of the pump track is scheduled to commence in August once the winter weather passes, and we are excited to announce that it will be open to the public in the latter part of this year.

We understand that the community is eagerly anticipating a start date for the trails, and we are working diligently to finalise the necessary approvals. We thank everyone for your continued support and patience throughout this process. Council is confident that the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination Project will secure the required approvals and that we’ll be abl to schedule a commencement date for trail construction soon.

Council looks forward to sharing these exciting updates for the Warburton Mountain Bike Destination and the Wesburn Park Pum Track with you soon.
